With Shawn Horcoff out with a combination of the flu and an injured shoulder and Mike Comrie also very ill with the flu, head coach of the Edmonton Oilers Pat Quinn has his eyes and attention set on making a different player the starting centre of the team. Gagner who has been described to contain grittiness, spots of flair, quick feet and disciplined focus, it only seems right that he would be the best fit for the proposed role. Gagner has tough shoes to fill and his current -1 rating is no help either with him and the current critics. But if Sam Gagner stays focused and plays the game he knows how to play, his step into the spotlight of the Rexall Arena should be a smooth transition. Gagner currently has a total of 4 goals and 10 points, not a horrible start, but hopefully the new position will encourage more point production from the young forward.
