Penner Leads League With Even Strength Point Production
Dustin Penner has had the most succesful start to the 2009/2010 season thus far. Penner leads the Edmonton Oilers in goals with 9 goals, placing him in 9th place overall in the NHL standings. Penner also has the lead with total points overall compared to his fellow teammates with 19 points, placing him in the 6th spot overall in the NHL standings. Therefor concluding Dustin Penner to be, the most productive scorer in the National Hockey League. Penner has averaged 4.86 points for every 60 minutes of even strength play, compared to another league favorite player; Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, who is at 4.77 points per 60 minutes of play. Penner had a slow season last year, when the Edmonton Oilers picked him up from the Anaheim Ducks, who were fresh off of a Stanley Cup trophy win, fans however, can appreciate the talent this player adds to the team through the recorded stats and amazing play Penner has lately produced.

New Coach Is Tough On The Team
"He's hard on us, but that's what we need. He's trying to make us a better team," said defenceman Ladislav Smid. "He doesn't want us to get satisfied."
It seems to be paying off. The Oil came back from a 4-1 deficit against the Columbus Blue Jackets to win 6-4.
Tonight we play the Calgary Flames in Calgary. Let's go OILERS!

First Week Summary
We made it 1 and 1 on Tuesday the 6th, but lost again to Calgary this time in OT, 4-3. Last night against the Habs, we got some redemption with a win, 3-2, in regulation.
Not all teams in the league have Thanksgiving off, but the Oilers do. They resume tomorrow night against the Nashville Predators.
The oilers will be getting a new arena. We just don't know where exactly. Downtown for sure. It will be bigger than Rexall to allow for more seating, and it will be comfortable, will have easy access to amenities, more luxurious suites and more of them. It's looking at costing around $450 million. A new arena cannot be built, however, until an outstanding $30 million loan is paid in full.
